What steps do I need to take for Work Cover?
If you sustain a work-related injury, notify your employer, and speak to your GP immediately for advice and a Work Cover certificate. Your insurer will give you a Work Cover claim number and a case manager – you will need these details to give to your GP.
Assessment, effective early treatment and good communication between all parties enhances the outcomes for everyone involved.
What is a Work Cover Certificate of Capacity?
Your GP completes the Work Cover certificate of capacity for you – this outlines the duties that you can/cannot perform at work and anything that can help your recovery. The Work Cover certificate of capacity is also used to communicate your Work Cover case with your insurer, employer, and other health professionals involved.
The Work Cover Certificate of Capacity has to be updated by your nominated GP every 28 days – this means you should follow up with the same GP for Work Cover appointments.
